Restore the Shore:

APC in LBI to Aid in Hurricane Sandy Rebuild

On October 29th, 2012, our favorite vacation getaway on Long Beach Island, NJ was rocked by Hurricane Sandy.  While the southern tip of the island took the brunt of the storm, our clients’ beach house, located on 92nd Street near the middle of the island — just half block from Little Egg Harbor and less than 2 blocks from the Atlantic Ocean — quickly filled with nearly 4 ft. of sea water.  Luckily, it was spared any major structural damage. APC spent nearly 2 months stripping, drying, rebuilding and renovating this classic Cape, finishing just in time for the owners to hit the ground running on the summer rental season.  We met and worked with some very special local contractors and residents who shared their personal experiences and stories of the worst natural disaster to ever hit their shores.  While we were lucky enough to be able to complete our project and get back to our lives here, there are many still on LBI who will continue to live and deal with the aftermath of this massive storm for months to come.  These photos tell our story, but they cannot even begin to tell theirs.
